In contrast to last weeks drawing here is a quick 30 minute sketch about this weeks Illustration Friday topic, "Imagination".

This week's topic on Illustration Friday is Identical. From the word I worked on some thumbnail ideas and compositions that you see below.

Not liking either work. The flow and the negative space were both very weak. But I did like the idea of reflection within the concept of identical. So I took my narsaciss thumbnail on the right and created a different idea with reflection.

enjoying the sketch with the strong flow of composition and interesting negative space I took this thumbnail to a more complete idea with color and shading. From here I took my sketch from the ipad into the computer and continued to take the idea to fruition.

As you can tell this incarnation of "Identical" is no where near done. The composition has changed slightly as have the colors. I still need to work on the composition, flow, drawing and rendering of the image above. But that is drawing, that is art. Working and constant reworking, speed comes with practice but first pass images are almost nonexistent. I will update you as I continue to work on the painting.

Here is the next step in the image. Every artist must remember destruction is as important if not more important then creation in the art making process. More to come soon.

The newest step in this image. I worked on more detail in the face altered the proportion and gesture of the main figure and then decided to add a more surreal quality to the image. starting over

Decided to start over on this blog. Not quite sure what to blog about so I will begin by posting a quick sketch I did for Illustration Friday. The topic of the Week is "Tall".

 I still have a few variations to go through before I fine tune the finished product. Hope you enjoy.
